HT750 programming assistance

Post by dth122 »

I'm in need of assistance programming some HT750s that I picked up. I need to re-program them to work with my other radios. In addition to the radios, I have what I was told was the hardware and software to re-program them. I'm using an original Motorola RIB on a Pentium 4 running Windows XP.

The two pieces of software I have are Professional Radio CPS R04.00.00 and Global Tuner R02.00.02.

I'm running the RIB off of a 9v battery.

When I try to use Global Tuner I get the error "Read Radio Failed. All softpot operational data is invalid."

When I use CPS I get "Couldn't open port. Check whether device/RIB are powered on or not, and the Device to RIB and RIB to PC connection is OK"

My first question is whether or not I have the right tools for the job. Which software should I be using and will the versions I have do what I need them to do? My assumption is that I should be using CPS, but I don't know if this version supports the 750s.

Assuming I'm doing the right thing, how else can I troubleshoot? All the connections are good and everything that needs to be turned on is.

Thanks.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

you won't need the tuner, don't worry about trying to get that to work. and as far as the cps, that is very old cps but if it's saying could not open port then the signal isn't getting to the rib or the radio yet, you need to finish the setup of the computer, it sounds like you need to assign the com port.

I don't see any place to do configuration.

I have the Motorola Application Launcher, but it doesn't seem to do anything, so I've just been loading CPS directly.

When I load CPS, there doesn't seem to be any place for configuration, however it does ask me for my COM port when I select Read Device. It is set to COM1, which is the only COM port on my computer and I'm 100% sure it's operating correctly because I use it with other devices.

Is there something I need to do with the Application Launcher or some other place to perform configuration that I'm missing?
