Starsite question

Post by Q101ATFD »

I am curious as to what the difference is BTW H36 Starsite, and
SmartNet/SmartZone systems, or what Starsite Operation is? I cannot
find any information on the vast interweb. Its on a 800 MTS2000 I. I am
just curious as to why some of the radios on the TRS are flashed for
Starsite and others are flashed for Smartzone Omnilink. Any insights?

Not sure where to start.
Startsite sort of took over from privacy plus and smartworks.
This is the most basic trunking system (3600 baud)
It is great for busness application and for Ma and Pa operators
The options are very limited. Single site. No secure option.

Smatnet offered dynamic regrouping, radio inhibit, Change me requests,Priority Monitor, Emergency call/alarm, Console patch and status messaging as well as a range of securnet algorithms.
Expandable to 21 or 28 channels depending on which model and can have full blown centracom consoles.
Also had AMSS which was a pre smartzone system. Also simulcast available but generally a single site.
Smartnet III alowed Astro.

SmartZone has all the options of smartnet but offers seamless roaming between sites, voice on control channel, RSSI and other options . It is a wide area system.

Omnilink merely joins smatzone sites together to make a state wide system.

As the current SZ controllers can have 100 sites per one, and you can 4 zones in a system, that means 400 site.
This is what the OPP have in Ontario.

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

I guess an easier way to put it:

Startsite-> Yugo
SmartZone-> BWM with the sunroof

Or, just think of Startsite as a basic LTR system whereas SmartZone is your does everything/goes everywhere system.

Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

Startsite also only supports 5 channels.
