GP338/HT1250 Full Keypad Questions

Post by losangelescop »

Hi all,

Looking at possibly getting a GP338/HT1250 radio and I am wondering about the full keypad. i know that its used to place phonecalls etc on a trunked system, but can the numeric digits be programmed into do anything elce like change channel or zone, or is that all done with the top 6 navigation keys? seeing as I am here in australia, they dont have a limited keypad waris, but i rly want one. if there is not a use for my full keypad, is it possible to put a limited keypad refurb kit on there? also, is there anyway to make a factory limited keypad 1250 into a full keypad model?

thanks ppl.

You can make a full keypad radio into a limited on.You only have to change the housing.
A limited to full keypad is possible if you have the american lab flashtool with the matching codeplugs.

In the standard software for the HT1250, changing between keypad types is just a pull-down menu choice under Radio Configuration. There is no need for special lab software or any form of hacking. Perhaps the GP338 is slightly different, but I have never actually hand my hands on one.

As far as useage, the numeric keypad is strictly used for DTMF dialing, and entering IDs for selsctive signaling. It cannot be assigned any of the functions reserved for the dedicated function buttons.
