What pager/options do I need for this?
Im trying to figure out if this is possible, and if so, what pager and what options do I need.
I am a member of two departments, one paid the other volunteer.
My paid department is dispatched on channel A(repeater channel), and my volunteer department is dispatched on channel B(non-repeater channel). I'd like to have the ability when at my paid department ONLY have my pager go off for the channel A and have selectable tone or vibrate). And for when Im off duty, I'd like to be able to have my pager go off for both and have the ability for tone or vibrate on both of those. Finally... i'd like to have one monitor/scan. I think I can do this with a 5 position knob, but my minitor IV for example, only has four positions.
ANY help is appreciated.
Thanks
Craig

Pagers
Also, remember if you are scanning, you will not reliably receive toneouts. If you have priority scan, you will never receive a call on the secondary channel. If you are just using straight scan, if one channel is busy, the other will not receive, dropping your probability of receiving any call down to 75% or so, depending on traffic. If you HAVE to keep watch on two different channels, you must have two units to reliably get calls on both. I deal with this question all the time with several of my customers-RRRobby
If it works, keep it. "New & Improved" usually means a new way for someone else to improve their bank account.

Silent scan?
So I could have the options set like this?
A--Tone Channel A (repeat ch)
B--Vibe Channel A (repeat ch)
C--Tone or vibe Silent Scan(scans both channels and pages on both)
D--Monitor or scan both channels
Finally, must I set a priority channel? I'd rather not.
Thanks for all the help.

Re: I understand
If you want to alert from two channels, yes. Min4s are dual-channel capable... you can scan them in open mode, but no tone alert on both channels. The 5 is the only way to get silent scan.firefighter2000 wrote:Okay, I get it now. Is this ONLY availible with a min 5?
