Spectra Radio Ignition Wire TX Inhibit hookup...
I have a Spectra radio that I would like to utilize the ignition wire TX inhibit option on, but I have not been able to figure out what all needs to be enabled/disabled within the RSS to make this work. Just by simply enabling the ignition wire TX inhibit option under the radio wide screen in the RSS does not do it.
Can anyone tell me what all I need to do in order to enable this option.
Also, if anyone can tell me what the exact hookups are for utilizing the A/B speaker output and the internal PA option, that would be great.

Just keep in mind that MotherMoto strongly objects to the green wire being tied to anything other than the same voltage source (meaning the battery or its equivalent) as the larger red (main power) wire, and for many good reasons. In fact, I have two Spectras that have a label on the top covers that state their objection emphatically.

If it's a dash-mount A5 or A7 radio, you have to fool with jumpers in the control head, so the radio will receive with the ignition off but not be allowed to transmit until ignition voltage is present.
The default is the whole radio is off (no receive or transmit) without ignition voltage, or both are allowed when it is.

Well, my radio is a remote mount, BUT, I have already tried connecting the orange wire to the ignition and the green directly to the battery. It didn't work. Unless both the green AND orange wires were both connected to a 12v positive source, the radio wouldn't even power on.
Now, as mentioned within the thread, someone said there is a jumper wire in the control head that has something to do with this. So, where is this jumper wire located on the remote mount head that I need to snip, in order to get this ignition TX inhibit to work?

Well, I took the control head out of the dash, and gave the back of the control head a good look-see, and for the life of me I was not able to find ANY jumpers.
Are the jumpers in fact located on the back of the control head? Or are the jumpers on the radio drawer?
Now, what is the possibilty that there aren't any jumpers and that Zero ohm resisters were used? If this is the case, which resisters are they?

Sorry. They ARE zero-ohm resistors. On Spectras, they are called jumpers. I guess we all knew that, but failed to communicate it to you.
I'd bet there are multiple circuit boards used for A5 control heads, so you'll have to give us the HLN number stamped on it, so we can find the right X-ray view and hopefully let you know what to change.

I double checked, and that WAS the number of the actual control head board.
Do you have any info regarding the jumpers for any A5/C5 control head boards? That would at least give somewhere to start.
I think I may just have to get out the DVM and start trying to determine on my own which resistor controls the PTT and which resistor controls the ingition wire. Hate to start guessing, but it may be my only option at this point.

Well, thanks to Bob and the schematic that he sent me, I figured it out and it works beautifully.
I mererly located JU1 and JU2 on the PCB. I removed the zero-ohm resisitor from JU2, and shorted the solder pads of JU1 together, and voila! I now have a switch that lets me enable/disable TX any time I want/need to.
