You need RSS (Radio Service Software), licensed from Motorola and a RIB, and you're set to go!

Open RSS in DOS, F3 - F3 - F10 - F4 - F5 then type them in.

You know, I am probably a little off.

Serious note though, look at the screen when you open the program, connect the rib, then select GET CODEPLUG / READ, READ RADIO, Then Exit that screen by F10, then F4 Modify Current, F5 channel / mode configuration.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

you don't realize how lucky you got that it worked in 98 but you need to take everyones advice and do it in real dos from now on before you turn that radio into a doorstop.

my buddy learned the lesson of a ribless cable too on his XTS3000 when he got "FL 01/82" once.

fortunatly i had a saved good codeplug and was able to get the radio recovered.
