Motorola MTS2000

Post by millerchief »

I have a VHF 48 Channel Portable, The speaker went bad so I put another case on it with the guts inside. I put a Keypad with the front display on it, But It doesn't display anything. Is there something I need to do to get it to show the channel info.

The majority of top-display controllers (as found on MTX8000 B4 and MTS2000 model 1) cannot support the front housing dot matrix displays. So most likely you're stuck with a top display only.

If however you have a rare controller that would support front display, you need to Lab in a codeplug from a radio that does support front display (model 2 or 3 MTS). However, this only can be attempted on an MTS2000 with less than 5.41 firmware. Anyting greater and you make a paperweight.

Best and safest route - sell your Model 1 and buy a Model 2 or 3.
