I need a laptop to program my HT1000 and MTS2000..??

Post by blackrifleguy »

I have an HT1000 and MTS2000 and my goal is to obtain the hardware needed to program these radios myself. I already have the ribless cable and legal access to the RSS (Newer version that has worked with these radios in the past).

1. Can my laptop (Pentium 4, ect) complete this task and if so, how???

2. If my laptop won't work for this application, what will I need to get it done? Please give me as many details about the machine requirements as you can so I can start my search.

If anyone out there has a machine suitable for this application, please contact me by email @ [email protected]. I am looking for a laptop I can dedicate to this purpose, if mine won't work

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

most laptops that have a p4 don't have a real serial port but if yours does then that's a start. and most p4 machines are running windows xp so that means you probablly have a ntfs file system and that won't work. i thin most will agree to find an older laptop. i use an ibm 360z and a compaq 1240 and both work great on those radios.
