SM120 intermittent recieve?

Post by emsbuff3240 »

I have an SM120, and when I transmit on a portable from anywhere farther than maybe 50feet from the radio/antenna, the signal cuts in and out. What I do hear is clear, but then it cuts out. I turned my portable on and the signal was crystal clear. Any idea what could be wrong with it?

Thank you

Generally when the signal can still be received, but at a much reduced sensitivity level, it's an indication that one of the 1st I.F. crystal filters has gone bad. That's just an educated guess, it could be many things.
