M120 question

Post by motofreak008 »

Is it possible to change TXRX boards in a M120 radio? If so what does it take and how hard is it? I am looking at buying a VHF board to put in a UHF radio. Any help?

You'd have to change the PA too. Probably easier to just buy the whole radio.

I agree. With a radio this inexpensive, it's not cost-efficient to convert the radio, just buy a new one.

The radio would require a new Power Amplifier specific to the band you're converting it to, as well as a complete blank and reinitialization of the logic board.

Then you'd have to retune the entire thing using a service monitor and other associated test equipment.

I would not want to take this project on for an M120 series radio.

But to answer your question, yes it is possible, however you need other parts and many tools.
