Saber channel capacity

Post by motosaber »

I am new to forum, so if this is wrong area for this post, please advise. I have a H43QXK7139CN & H43QXN7139CN that I am taking to a Motorola radio shop to be programmed for 2 meter. I am reading about zones etc, but want to know how many channels each radio is capable of being programmed. I am taking a list of repeaters with PL tones, but would like to know if there is any issues I should be aware of regarding these radios that I should specify to the tech, such as any enabling of functions etc. that would make them better to operate.

Thanks

What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000

depends on the radio's controller size and combination of options. 2K Sabers are limited to 48 channels max, without scan enabled. Less if you do enable scan. 2K Sabers don't support DTMF.

the more desirable 8K radios can support up to 120 channels with multiple scan lists. All Sabers are limited to only 32 PL/DPL codes, less if you enable features like Selectable PL, autodial, etc.

the only way to tell what kind of Saber you have is to either read the radio or open it up and look at the display board and count the number of chips.

First, welcome to the board.

The H43QXN is a Saber I, capable of only 12 channels in one zone and is limited in features by memory size.

The H43QXK is a Saber III capable of four zones of 12 channels each and has 8K of memory UNLESS somebody turned ON the 2K memory only feature during programming.

Both radios have secure comm capabilities.
