XTVA TX Audio

Post by mam1081 »

Here's the problem:

I have an XTVA that I plan on using with a XTS3k. I have the standard palm mic (actually two of them, one of which does work on an MCS2k), and the XTS3k has 7.xx Host/DSP.

When I put the radio (with RF adapter) in the XTVA, the mic will make the radio TX, but there is no audio being modulated. I can't hear myself on another radio or scanner in analog or digital.

I have a copy of the service manual that says to check VR30 (Zener, 9.1V), U4-14 (Quad OpAmp), R214 (10k resistor), and VR52 (Zener, Quad 5.6V) if I'm getting this problem. I don't know that I'm elecronically competent enough to go digging around "testing" those (since I wouldn't really know how to test the OpAmp).

I also read in the service manual that the W3 or HHCH uses serial communication to talk (I would think the TX audio would still go through the same circuit though). Anyone think a HHCH would solve my audio problem? If not, what is a good way to test those components? Are there any other things that I'm not getting right?

Thanks in advance...
