strange xts 3000 programming experience

Post by tnf »

so i programmed my xts 3000 today, and while it was still connected but had written to the radio, i tried to transmit on all the channels, and it worked on every one of them except channel 5, and each time i would cue the ptt button, it would transmit, continue transmitting while doing a self test (like what happens when you turn it on), and then when it finished the self test, it stopped transmitting. whats going on? i am not sure what was transmitting during that time because i was not around a speaker to hear it, but it works fine now that i have added channels, zones, and made another changes. any ideas what this was, or if i should be concerned? thanks! -tnf

Hi,

Sounds like whatever freq was in Ch5 was close enuff to the resonant freq of your cable that it conducted sufficient RF into the radio to make it malfunction and then reset itself.. I've had HT1000s do this occasionally, so I always make a point to disconnect the program cable before transmitting with an antenna (dummy loads are fine)

RF interference

Hi tnf,

Well, I've never damaged anything that way, but I suppose it could happen - if it came back and seems to work fine, I suspect you got thru OK.
