impres battery replacement

Post by tvsjr »

Does anyone know the conditions for warranty replacement of an impres battery?

I've got a LiIon NTN9862B, date code 632, initialized 05/2006, 16 cycles, that's indicating 94% of rated capacity on my gang charger (which, yes, has the latest firmware in it). And, the 94% is immediately following a recalibration cycle, so it should be accurate.

Any thoughts?

80%+ capacity for 18 months. I don't see how that battery has failed

Yeah, the 'rated capacity' is a nominal value...you'll find some batteries that give 110% out of the gate, and others that'll give 90%...Motorola will only replace if it falls under 80%. That's a fairly standard guideline for any battery manufacturer/supplier.

This thing showed 118 out of the box... over the last few charge cycles... 98... 97... 94... and I cycled the battery again today and it's showing 91.

Something tells me the pack has dropped a cell. I've got 3 other 9862Bs from the same lot with no issues.

Just wanted to know what the rules were if the value continues to drop.

Thanks.

Charge it 10 more times and then send it in for warranty. :)
