MT2000 LCD screen dead
I have an MT2000 version B7 with 160 channels and full keypad. The LCD display is not working correctly. Instead of getting a new radio i want to fix it.

- What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000
Sorry to hear of your bad LCD, but it's not rare. I've had quite a few variations of the Jedi handhelds with LCD and some unhappy experience repairing them.
That's good advice above. You can buy the LCD and associated flex and try to get it into your old case, but that's a bad idea. If you're not very careful you can ruin the LCD just forcing it into the case. You'd do well to get the full refurb.
BE CAREFUL. No all refurb kits on Ebay contain the LCD and keyboard. Some are just the case and rubber keypad, but you can't always tell from the photos in the Ebay ads. Read the ad very carefully to make sure that it's the complete assembly and ask the seller.
You also want to be careful when removing the flex contacts. There's a little white clasp of sorts which has to be opened. I yanked my first one out and thereby ruined the whole thing.
It's almost a toss up as to whether to spend the $150 to more likely $200 on a full refurb since the value of some Jedis has dropped a good bit. You can often get a nice (looking) MTX 8000 with charger, antenna and, as always, a battery which holds no charge for $200 or less. Of course, if you like your radio you at least know you've got a working unit. There's nothing nicer than the feel and easy press of fresh keys and the sharpness of a new display.
Good luck.
