I wonder if that's from the movie Jurassic Park.

They apparently had banks of Saber III's for the movie, and they were rumored to be clear.

That might be part of that set.

Email the seller and see what comes up.

prototype?

I once came along a totally clear Bendix/King vhf HT. It was strange, didn't even have any coating over the circuit traces, they were all still gold colored. It was a prototype model for marketing purposes I believe.

Maybe it was some kind of sales demonstration gimmick.

I found the clear plastic is really brittle, especially where the screws go.

As I recall the handheld radios in Jurassic Park, which I think were Sabers (at least as far as the cases were concerned) had LED's which were on at all times. Imagine if that were the way radios really worked!
