Anybody know where I can find a manual for a Micom HF 1.6-30MHz tuner, TLA-6102A?
No luck with Motorola On Line.

The Model / Kit number could have changed or your /\/\ Antenna Tuner could have been manufactured by the former /\/\ Government Electronics Group (Military Division) which was sold to General Dynamics in the Spring of 2001 to cover /\/\'s expense for the failed Iridium Project. Iridium satellites happen to be still orbitting the earth and are used by the U.S. Federal Government (as the Primary User) and there are some secondary users too.

Dan: Thanks. I already had looked at MOBAT's newer model. And, although the outward appearance is very similar, theirs apparently receives control info via the coax, or, at least that's what their spec sheets say.
The one I'm looking at has four leads via external studs/feed-thrus on the input (bottom) side of the case.
Since posting the want, the TLA6102A is just the board number. The tuner itself is actually a T1961A/T1959A.
MOBAT is a wholly-Israeli outfit and now makes and sells all of the Micoms. Would love to find a Micom 2-R floating around. Nice hardened radio...

Hi Lee,
I thimk it's worth your time to drop an email to MoBat-USA technical service department requesting a pin out information on your Model # T-1961 Antenna Tuner at [email protected]. I'll bet they have the information in their files. /\/\ shipped all of the MICOM Products over to Israel around 1980 leaving many of Schaumburg's H.F. SSB Product Development Engineers to find new positions within the company.
I was around when the U.S. Engineers developed MICOM, MICOM-X and the matching Microprocessor ATU. Oh, it was slick. I knew a /\/\ Account Representative that traveled to the far east and sold a ton of those units! I know the guy who designed the first ATU that mated up with the MICOM X but like a lot of the former engineers, technicians and sales reps, one by one they were forced out of the corporation doors during the 1990s and into the mid 2000s by Christopher Galvin, Bob Galvin's son.
By 2003 /\/\'s 75th Year Anniversary of being in Business, Christopher Galvin turned a world class corporation into the ground barely able to function let alone serve it's customer base. Then he stepped down after destroying the company and thousands of its workforce lives. I'd bet that Paul Galvin (Christopher's Grandfather) who started the company is spinning (at Hyper-speed) in his grave.
Today Ed Zander CEO, continues to downsize /\/\ with only 66,000 employees and over 2/3rds are not US citizens living and working outside the USA. In 1998 /\/\ employed 150,000 full-time personnel world wide and probably within the next 10~20 years /\/\ will be just a name that the Chinese or Indian people will own. That's Corporate American "MBA" GREED at it's best.

Hi, Dan. Well, I found what I was looking for from a ham who has one down Texas way. Thanks, though, for your suggestions.
As to /\/\other /\/\, well, its a classic tale of as you put it, the MBA's (and lawyer types at the helm) wrecking corporate America.
The firing of US talent and replacing it with cheap foreign talent will have its price. Perhaps not immediately, but eventually. In addition to us becoming a third rate consuming country, we will be unable to stand firm strategically.
With key elements, such as microprocessors and RF subcomponents being foreign and 3rd world, well, you get the picture. Not just supply cut-off, but perhaps even sabotage..... Imagine what a quirk key intentionally built into an Intel microprocessor could do to classified systems.
The NSA makes a few things it needs in a small scale facility in MD. But, there are many other things our country needs in uniterrupted supply besides security keys and such.
What /\/\ and Intel, Cisco, and others have done (and it will get worse) is not only shameful, but really scary when you put all the pieces together.
Designing overseas will extract a very high price. Much more than the botom line bean counters ever imagined.
It began with steel (I live near Birmingham, AL, a steel ghost town) then cars, and now electronics.
If /\/\ thinks it has problems now with 'cloned' exact copies of its handhelds and such entering the US market (thanks to its wayward foreign employee workforce in China) wait until the strategic thefts really get off the ground......

Intel have been making chips overseas for longer than I've been alive. Pentium 4 processors were made in Costa Rica, China, Malaysia and the Philippines. In any case, a factory in the USA has precisely as much of a chance of being compromised as a factory in any other country. There is nothing to say that a US worker (or Mexican worker, as it usually is in practice) is any more honest or reliable than a Chinese worker.

I skimmed though the MICOM X transceiver manual and it appears like the /\/\ ATUs require a Positive keying DC voltage to activate the tuner. I did find the RF Tune / Drive level which is between 2.5 to 4.5 Watts or better yet use 3.5 Watts in the Low Power Tune Mode and then switch to normal Power Output on your H.F. transceiver.
