M120/GM300 narrow band pa versus wide band pa ?

Post by Satelite »

Just curious as to whether the power amplifier on a M120 or even the Gm300 are any diferent from the narrow band model versus the wide band model ?
I realize the transmit and recieve bds have diferent parts to make them work as narrow or wide ect.
But looks to me like they use the same pa per there respective power rating.
Is this corect information ?
Anybody have the narrow band kits for the GM300 or Maxtrac ?
Oh i spose id better specify im looking at the 438/470 or 450/470 UHF splits.
I wouldnt mind buying some just in case the FCC actualy makes us go narrow band.

I'd bet the farm that the PA is the same.

The issue of wide or narrow band has to do with the receiver's bandwidth and the transmitter's deviation. Wideband in today's market is 5 kHz; narrowband is 2.5 kHz. Usually, receiver changes include narrow filters. Transmitter changes could be as simple as turning the total deviation down.
