Tone Remote Adapter Channel Steering on its own

Post by Mikey »

I finally got the Tone remote adapter interfaced with this GM300 and it all hooked in to a Comtegra console. The only problem i have now is the Tone remote Adapter unit will just out of the blue switch radio channels. This usually happens when there is traffic on the channel, then it switches to some random other channel. Does the line level on the tone remote adapter have anything to do with this as it seems it gets a little better or worse as i adjust it. This isn't going to be very reliable when the console says its on channel one and the radio is actually on channel 7 or 8. Now when you key the console up it switches back to the channel its supposed to be on, until the next time it decides to randomly switch. Any idea's?

I am guessing that the traffic from the receiver is causing
the tone adapter to false. It could be caused by the audio
levels being too high coming from the receiver. Could also
be caused by the type of traffic on the radio channel.

I would ask how often this happens? Does it happen
durring a defined time of the day? By any chance is there
another tone controlled station at the same location using
the tone function that is falsing? If so, you might be getting
some cross talk from the control circuit. The other circuit
may have the levels too high and causing cross talk.

You need to do some home work to narrow down the cause
and the frequency of the problem. Most tone adapters don't
just switch on thier own. There is a cause for the action.
Might even be something as simple as dirty DC power that
your running the tone adapter from.
