MTR2000 OUT OF BAND

Post by KuhnElectronics »

Looking to get a MTR2000 VHF down into the ham band for a buddy of mine....

Any hacks besides changing the PA deck...

He realizes that he will lose performance and that really isnt that big of deal, just tryna get it down that far...

any ideas?

You can be the first to conquer this and write it up!

Obviously, the MTR talks to the PA to determine what is really there, because it doesn't work to just tell the RSS that you have a low range PA.

There must be some circuitry on the PA that identifies it to the controller. You would need to examine the PA schematic in the component level service manual, determine what performs that task, further determine what is different between ranges and then make the appropriate changes so that your high range PA lies to the controller and reports that is a low range.

Then you will have to see how well it works down into the ham band.

Good luck & we will be waiting to hear your results.
