MOTOROLA SER #'S

Post by N4KVE »

Hello. I was just looking at some HT's & noticed some strange things. All MTS 2000's I've seen start with ser # 466. I just saw one that started with 432. All MTX 8000's I've seen start with 511, however I have an MTX 8000 that starts with 402. Lastly all Astro Sabers I've seen are 310, however I just purchased a used case, even the same bandsplit as mine "R", but it starts with 465. Not that I lose sleep at night but what's up with that? Are the oddball ones perhaps SP radios? I've never noticed anything like that before, but then I only deal with mobiles.

The first letter is where the radio manufacturing line was.

"C" - Illinois
"K" - Arizona
"X" - Puerto Rico
"A" Florida
etc.
