Radius Mic Differences..

Post by Rayjk110 »

Upon testing a few different mics on a GM300, I noticed a difference with the Radius black palm mic with the little LED indicator in the corner.

Apparently, the radius LED mic, after you de-key, has the radio transmitt the DPL or PL turn off code for like 1/2 of a second longer than a regular mic does. If using a CDM style or regular white potato mic, the radio only TX's the turn off code for the regular short time.

Anyone else notice this? Or at that, know why this happens?

The only difference is the LED, which gets it's power from the PTT lead, possibly the extra drain on that lead is causing it to dekey slower.

That's what I was thinking it was...

Also noticed that the CDM series mic's make a clicky noise on de-key rathter than the quick little "thump" any other mic makes....just little things I've noticed.
