Hi
We have a network with 100 GP300 radios
linked with one MOTOROLA repeater.
If the repeater fail, what is the best way to program the radios in order to temporary replace the failed repeater ??
I apreciate your help.

Hi Alvaro.
If what you are going to do is to replace the repeater while been fix, then you can program two of the radios to work as the repeater.
You would have to locate the radios at the repeater site and use the existing duplexer, and also you will need to provide some additional cooling system for the radio that will be used as the TX since the heat sink will not be enough to dissipate the heat on such a heavy use.
Any technician can prepare and program two of the radios to perform this service.

I think what you are saying is how to program the GP300 portable radios for Simplex repeater talk-arround.
On another channel in the GP300's, program a channel that has the same receive frequency as the repeater channel and use the same frequency for the transmitter.
Example: existingchannel that uses the repeater 464.00 receive
459.00 transmitt.
Talk-arround chan.: 464.00 for both transmitt AND receive.

get a GR300 Repeater ( Factory prefered )
and this way, both radios can have the Input
and output freqs programmed.
So if one or the other should fail ( except
for a major logic board failure ) all you have to do is switch antenna ports.
Also, since GM300's are pretty reasonable, you can have just 1 radio on stand-by. If / When a failure occurs, just replace the radio.
I have several of these radios in service in Mexico since most of the radio shops are 100's of miles away.
