Front Panel Programmable P-25 Motorola Portable

Post by Jim1348 »

I might be interested at some point in the future in buying both a VHF and a UHF Motorola portable that are front panel programmable and capable of Astro P-25 modulation. What, if any, are my choices?

Thank you for the reply.

Are these like the HT1550 where I need to get a special battery or is the FPP provision configured differently?

HT1550 is FPP using the FPP battery
XTS5000, you need to have the FPP flash.
JT1000 is FPP-able with or without programming key depending on the version

however you did ask about FPP and P25 capable. The only radios that dxon2m listed would be the XTS5000. This is only capable with the proper flash code, with this there are 2 type Q52 FPP can be programmed with out attaching a key. Q53 FPP must have a key attached to the radio in order to use the FPP.

As KS4VT stated, the 2500 can be be flashed for FPP.. And like the 5K, you can have it flashed for Q52 or Q53..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Keep in mind the only "legit" XTS5000 with FPP is in VHF and does not come with any flavor of trunking. If this radio is for ham use, then a hack-o-matic would be ok, but definatly not for public safety use
