I'm looking at picking up either a Pilot 990 or the Gold 929. I've seen the 929 in person and know it's basically a copy of the Advisor Gold Motorola pager. I'm wondering what the Pilot 990 is like, in terms of size to the original Motorola Advisor pager (http://www.braddye.com/images/advisor.gif). The system I'm putting it on already uses the Gold 929 pagers, so I'm guessing that might be my best option. Is the larger screen on the 990 still able to display the same way as the 929, just larger? For the cost difference of $30, I'd rather have a larger screen. I assume the 990 is "FPP" as well?

Also, is anyone on here able to order them? I was quoted $165 for the 990 and $134 for the 929. Can I get them cheaper? :D

Either way, I'd need it to be the 410-418MHz version.

I don't know about the 929, but I've had the 990 & Asvisor Elites and I like the 990 way batter. The backlight is far better and the display size is slightly larger. The 990 is far better in my opinion, and yes, it is "FPP".

If I remember correctly, the 929 uses a AAA battery but the 990 uses a AA battery, so the 990 will give you longer runtime on 1 battery.

Analog already is interoperable.
