RADIO BEEPING??

Post by themedic66 »

Hello Again,

I have noticed that on some saber radios, if a certain channel is not programmed, it will give fast, continuous "2-beeps" and show "UNPROG". I have also noticed on other sabers that if a certain channel is not programmed it will make no beep, but instead when you press the PTT, you hear a solid beep for as long as you press the ptt. I'm just trying to figure out why they react two different ways, is it programming related? Any explanations?

Thanks in advance.

Likely the ones you're referring to have different revisions of the firmware.

I think you will find that the continuous tone upon selection results from selecting a slot that has not been defined at all, while the tone only on PTT results from selecting a channel that is receive only (RXO).

RKG is correct - beeping channels are blank, channels with PTT tone are receive-only.
