CP200 distorted Audio

Post by johnny1225 »

I have a CP200 Portable Radio that has very bad distorted audio thru the accy jack. The internal speaker audio is fine, but the accy jack when you plug a speaker mic into it is very distorted. I have change the jack, but the audio is still the same. Probably a capacitor. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

There is an SRN or FSB related to this I believe when using the newer style speaker mic, I will see if I can dig it up for you.

Some aftermarket speaker/mics have the wrong impeadance, which causes this. Also true for some other model portables, especially the HT600/MT1000/P200 portables.

Also, are you testing this with just 1 speaker-mic, or a couple of them? Most mics used with those types of radios seem to be the radius HMN9030a. If it's one, try it on a couple different radios. It's common for wires to break, or start to break in the cord, that can result in scratchy/parital audio, or no audio at all depending on how the cord is bent.
