Will a UHF R1 Quantar make the UHF Ham Band?

As the topic says, can a UHF Range 1 Quantar be made to operate in the 440-450MHz ham band with at least decent sensitivity?

Most of the time YES. How high is your RX freq?

Transmit 446, receive 441.

Did anybody ever confirm the actual definitive answer to this question? (I'm asking this 5 years later...)
