CDM1250 UHF Won't power up

Post by nysmedic226 »

Hello all.
Just got a new CDM 1250 UHF radio. When I first applied power the radio it powered up and I was able to program it. After that I installed the remote head adapter kit to the radio. All went smooth with the installation. Disconnected the head from the radio with ribbon cable attached to head, installed remote adapter to RF section aligning "0" stamp on ribbon supplied with "0" mark on radio. Added remote adapter base to head connecting head ribbon cable to adapter base and again lining up the "0" on ribbon to "0" on adapter base. Connected the remote cable between the head and radio, then tried to power up. No success. But head back on RF section and still will not power up. Has anyone had this problem and what was the solution?

Thanks, Chris

Was all this done while power was still supplied to the radio? I have seen this happen before where simply resetting power to the radio solves the problem. Even if the radio has been properly powered down before swapping heads it is best to disconnect the power first.

The main power to the radio was still connected when the remote kit was installed. Cycling the power to the radio did not solve this problem. I suspect that I blew an internal fuse (F0401) in the radio but I do not have the lastest detailed service manual to confirm this.
