GP380 voice storage trouble

Post by ro »

Hi folks,
I try to get the 'voice storage' feature working for my GP380.
This is what I've done:
- assigned a 'Voice Storage Record/Play'-button
- enabled the 'Voice Storage - Recorder' menu
- In the Per Radio Signalling Definition enabled the 'Voice Storage' option and selected 'Recorder'.

However, nothing gets recorded.
I push and hold the 'Voice Storage Record/Play'-button, record a message after the beep and release the button again.
When I try to play back the recorded message, there is no audio, just a little bit static (the display shows 'Playback' alright). After some seconds the playback stops and the radio returns to normal operation.

Did I miss something on how to enable this feature?

Cheers,
Ro

I don't know, but since the product description from Motorola lists voice storage as an integrated feature of the radio, I'm not sure a voice storage option board is needed.
Also, upon programming the radio with voice storage enabled, there is no warning or error message that the option board is missing.

Cheers,

It seems you do infact need an add-on board.

I just e-mailed with a Motorola dealer and he confirmed that you need indeed an option board. However, the option board is no longer available because of low demand.
What was puzzling me is that not even the manual gives a hint that an option board is needed.

There's a drop down menu in CPS that lets you select what Option Board you have in the radio.

You are right, but what I'm missing is the actual option board
