Tone Remotes

Post by pfd radio »

Newbie question. Do I need a tone remote adapter at the radio or do radios accept the standard tones? For transmit, monitor, etc.

We need some more information - You need a tone remote adapter in order to send the signals to the radios in order to transmit, key, monitor, etc...

However, some base station radios already have this built in, and there is no need for a tone adapter...

Tell us some information about what it is your looking to do, and what equipment it is with, and we can probably help direct you best based upon that.

You would need a tone termination panel at the radio end IF the radio doesn't have some form of wireline card (IE: If the radio isn't a base or repeater, chances are it doesn't have one.)

The dispatch side has a tone remote. Sends function tones to the radio.

We need to know what radio you are using to answer properly.

I can use any of the following radios - Spectra, GM300, or CDM1550 LS+. Using a Vega (Telex) console w/standard tones. What exactly am I looking for as far as an interface for the radio? Is it a tone remote adapter? If possible who makes the interface (Zetron, CSI, Midian, etc.)

I have some TTP1's from CSI running for several years and they have never caused a pproblem.
One to remote a Motorola Micom HF set and the other a VHF Maratrac.
Easy to install and zero maintenance.
Tessco has a good range

OK Thanks. So I'm looking for tone remote adapters or tone termination panels?

Termination panel.
Remote adaptors normally send the tones
