Saber II Scan question...

Post by RadioNut »

Hi all,

I have a Saber II that is set up to scan, which it does just fine. But, how do I edit the scanlist via the keypad? I can see "scanlist" as an option by pressing "Menu" on the keypad and can review the current scan list and even delete a channel but cannot figure out how to edit the list.

I am beginning to think its not possible via the keypad. I would like to drop and add channels from other zones like on an XTS5K. Is this not an option with the Sabers?

Thanks,

From page 26 of the Saber Operating Instructions:

"The scanlist menu lets you scrolll through the channels assigned
to a specific mode-slaved scan list. This menu is used strictly for review purposes; you cannot use the keypad to change the contents
of the preprogrammed listing."

So, you can see what's on the scanlist, and you can delete one
or more of the entries temporarily via nuisance delete, but that's
all you can do short of reprogramming via the RSS.

Well how about that for a precise answer straight from the manual...

Thanks, that sums it up....bummer going to have to get it reprogrammed....again... :(

Is it limited to 10 channels per scan list? I seem to remember reading this.

If I recall correctly, you can put on a scan list:
Priority 1 channel
Priority 2 channel
Ten sequential scan channels

...but I can't remember if the two priority channels are also part
of the ten sequential channels. You can get all the data from the
F1 help screen in the RSS.

Thanks Tom,

You have helped me before and I appreciate it. How does one turn off the secure tone (beep) that it makes prior to TX via the RSS. I want the progrmamer to do this also, its very annoying.

Rob,

Secure radios have several things that make them beep on
transmit, or they beep and don't transmit, etc. First I'd make
sure the secure switch on top is flipped to the non-secure
position. If that doesn't work I'd go to the feature options
list and mess with the several secure options that appear
there. It could also be a function of whether you're using an
actual secure module in the radio or a bypass module. Give it
a shot and if no luck get back to me and I'll dig into my
computer. I have only on Saber left and it's not a secure
model so I'll have to do some guessing -- it's been a while since
I messed with one.

On the off chance that what you're experiencing is not a secure
thing but rather related to MDC etc., be certain that all of the
signalling options are turned off.

And, lest I beat the subject to death, make liberal use of the
F1 help button for any menu function.
