Post by codeplug »

I am having trouble with a radio code plug.
xts5000 ful key pad with FPP.
the issue is that in cps
conventional pers 1-10 are to be in zone 1
but when I go to the first zone all the personalities numbers are strapped to 1 for some reason
I can not figure out how to to make match up to be
1-1
1-2
1-3 and so on
any one have any ideas.
thanks

Try this:

1. Go to CONVENTIONAL in the main menu
2. Go to CONVENTIONAL PERSONALITY
3. Go to ASTRO TALKGROUP OPTIONS
4. Uncheck the TALKGROUP box. This should disable
strapping.

You will have to do this for every conventional personality you
have set up, or at least you'll have to check each of them to
be sure the TALKGROUP box is not checked.

While you're at it you'll find it's a good idea with FPP to set up
one conventional personality for every channel, so that you use
conv. pers. #1 for channel 1 only, #2 for channel 2 only, etc.

Look at what's checked for strapping under the
SECURE tabs. If you look in the HELP file you will
see a list of about ten places where strapping
is possible. Your problem has to be coming from
the box being checked in one of those places.

Any Astro25 portable with the Q53 option enabled in the flashcode (regardless of whether it also has the Q52 option enabled) will have what's called a "locked" codeplug. This means that you have 15 zones times 16 channels, where each sequential channel in each sequential zone will be slaved sequentially to each conventional personality in turn. Example:

Zone 1:
Chan 1 Pers 1
Chan 2 Pers 2
Chan 3 Pers 3
...
Chan 16 Pers 16

Zone 2:
Chan 1 Pers 17
Chan 2 Pers 18
Chan 3 Pers 19
...
Chan 16 Pers 32

...

Zone 15:
Chan 1 Pers 224
Chan 2 Pers 225
Chan 3 Pers 226
....
Chan 16 Pers 240

CPS R10 in conjunction with Host R10 modifies this, so that you may have additional personalities and additional zones above the 1st 240 personalities and 1st 15 zones, that would not have fpp enabled. However unless you have both CPS and Host R10, you're still stuck with 240/15x16... no less, no more.

akardam is right on the $$.

Motorola calls these "fixed" codeplugs. Originally you couldnt drag/drop these Codplugs either in CPS, but I believe that is/was resolved in 9.0, and the further updates in 10.0 will be nice!!!

It can be a moderate PITA to setup, initally, but once you setup all your personalites the 1st go around, you should be set.

Due to the fact that the radio has the Front Panel Programming "FPP" the radio is limited to 256 channels and the personalities are fixed to match the zones. Such as Conventional Personality 1-16 zone 1, etc. Also you will discover that Drag and Drop will not work on the zones or personalities as well. There is an update coming out soon to address this issue.
