Command Plus setup questions

Post by kt2728 »

I have been asked by the local EMS to setup a command plus console (that they obtained used). It will need to interface with a couple of M1225s and gm300s in the same building. it will also need to interface with an older GE tranciever at another location about 4 Miles ( Via the telephone lines route) away. this GE radio was used with one of those older motorola beige and red simple 2 channel consoles. I know that i ll need some sort of an adapter on each of the radios i plan to use on this console. I also have purchased the Programming software from mother moto, powered up the unit and read and wrote to it.

MY Questions

Tone remote Vs DC remote What is the difference and what should i use?

Adapters? what Brand and/or Models should be used with these radius radios.

How many pair of telephone wire do i need per radio? so i will know how big of a house cable
that i will need to pull in to the dispatch office.

How many dry telephone pair do i need to use the tranciever at the remote location?

Sorry for all the dumb questions i just have never worked on a console of any sort before.

thanks

By default they are tone signaling. There is a daughter board for DC signaling and an extra housing on the rear for e&m signaling. The unit can be strapped for two wire or 4 wire.

We currently only have a couple in service and they are using tone signaling. In the past we have used consoles with e&m signaling since that is our preferred method.

If you are really really really lucky you have a unit with e&m. From the RSS you can get an equipment inventory. USE ONLY DOS 6.2, NO WINDOWS DOS BOX OR BOOT! Windows is known to corrupt the code plug.

If you are lucky enough to have an e&m unit you could strap it for 4 wire and control the radios on a single channel directly. You would use the M lead for ptt and you would have a 0db TX and RX 600 ohm pair.

The service manual is useless for repairing since they consider everything FRU. It does have the jumpers and connector pin outs.

I am off this next week so I can not give you any tech info.
