Flash Upgrde a PR1500

Post by jetsonic14 »

Is there any way I can flash upgrade a PR1500 for P25 with out having to send it to the depot, I see in the software it has a place to select a "FLASH port upgrade file" is that what I would use and how would I get one of those?

Absolutely. You can also purchase the upgrade from your local /\/\ rep, and have it drop shipped to you, where you can do it yourself. It does not have to be done at the depot.

Youll get the flash dongle, and the software, where you can do this yourself. I'd bet this is a pretty pricey option to buy after the fact (guessing around $500).

This is all assuming there aren't any CPS or radio origin issues, and that you are already a Motorola customer to the extent of having an account and, an actual /\/\ rep you deal with (in some cases a MSS can also order it).

Have you actually done a PR1500 upgrade outside of the depot?

Last I heard (April 2007) they were only doing them in the depot. I even have the retarded forms for the upgrade still. They implied some technical constraints that wouldn't allow the upgrades to be done in the field. Beats me, after all.. they are "stupid" XTS2500's.

Just curious if they ARE shipping PR1500 upgrade kits or not.

I have not heard of them shipping upgrades, they gave me the forms and said to send them to the depot.
