convert ht1250 to gp380/gp388

Post by bradlington »

Converting an HT1250 to GP380 or 388.(only difference I can pick up between the 380 and 388 is that the latter does not have the options board facility.)

Has anyone done this conversion?
Mdc1200 is not used much over here and 5-tone is the standard for some unknown reason.

Thanks Brad

I've heard of it being done easily. I'm sure Andras will chime in, he seems to be the expert. However, be aware that the GP380 has a continuous rotary channel knob and the HT1250 does not. I'm not sure how this would affect any such modification.

Thanks for the information.
I am hoping this is possible.

I was thinking over my motorola collection and my GP340 must have been one on top over the last 6 years that I have had it.I carry it on my belt every day and it has been through being placed in the bath by children and other places that have flushing water and it is still going strong.

Any information in this regard would be appreciated.

Regards

No,ist not possible, because the HT1250 has a smaller FLASHROM.Only the HT1550 can be converted into a virtual GP380 (The CPS don´t know such model, you must edit it.The firmware know this virtual models
H25KDN9AN8 and H25RDN9AN8).

Ok here is one for the experts.

If I cant change an HT1250 into the 5-tone version due to the mdc-1200 , then can I change a GP340 (5-tone )into its mdc1200 counterpart by flash upgrading the unit .

Thanks in advance

I tried this, but had no success. It looks like the firmware has different addresses.
It only works with the HT1550 and GP1280.
