Centracom (Gold Elite) + MPT1327 - possible?

Post by vk5ztv »

Hi all. I have been asked to investigate interfacing an MPT1327 radio to a Centracom Gold Elite system that is part of an Astro Smartzone network. There are currently three conventional MCS2000 radios interfaced via tone-remote adaptors. The client wants one replaced with an MPT trunked radio. I was given a Simoco PRM8030 by the client but I don't think this is an option. Has anyone ever tried to interface an MCX1200 (same platform as the MCS2000 but with MPT1327 firmware) to a Centracom?

Thanks in advance,
Rodney.

Are you planning to use the tone remote style interface?
I assume your MCS2000's currently only have one channel (no channel changing from the console). Will this be the same with the MPT1327 radio?

MPT-1327 radios are weird beasts compared to Motorola system radios. There's no mode steering as such on them.
