Motorola handie talkie RF link
My agency is currently using a handie talkie RF link to communicate back and forth between our dispatch center and our remote transmit site. The link radio is said to be in disrepair and should be replaced. I've read that these units are nothing more than 2 HT44o's and the controller etc. My question is does anyone know a repair facility that can bench fix this unit if I supply the HT440's? What is the cost involved and is it worth it? Currently our system is in backup mode due to this failure. Thanks.

Re: Motorola handie talkie RF link
When you say "communicate between our dispatch ctr and our transmit site", do you mean that the HT440s are link radios connecting your dispatch center and your actual transmitter, rather than a wireline control?
HT440s? You might want to seriously consider updating the antiquated hardware your agency is relying on.

Also, the base end is likely duplex so that the control center can have priority to transmit.
