P50 constant open squelch

I have an old P50 here that when I powe it on, the squelch stays open to matter what position I turn the squelch knob to. The Radio will RX as I can hear my work repeater when it comes on, but I can't get the radio to mute.

Any ideas?

Probably need a new control, they're pretty much the weak point of the P10/P50's. Radio doesn't have a PL or DPL board in it ?

It could be as simple as a broken wire or flex at the squelch pot.

Well I managed to break it trying to open the radio up, oh well.
