This forum is for discussions regarding all aspects of Motorola radio programming, including hardware, computers, installation and use of RSS/CPS, firmware upgrades, and troubleshooting. There are subforums for discussions of codeplugs, and also for software/firmware release notes and issues.
Ok here is the deal. I have an Ext. 160gig HD I got an idea to put on it the rss for the xts and several other types of radios. The quantr works fine BUT here is the kicker the HD wants me to run a program called Argo It will emulate the actions of your internal hard disk in the aspects of install. All was going as planed the rss installs and appears to work fine but when you restart your computer to finish the install and then try to run the rss, it looks for the file fhAdk10c.dll and will not let the rss run. Can anyone help me overcome this issue for what it’s worth the E F Johnson pc connfig does the same thing
tried to look for the file on both the main frame and also the portable drive no luck! also cant install from the external drive BUT I can burn a disk form the file on the drive and it will install on the computer and work fine. I think that it is some kind of security by big /\/\ dont know it would be nice if it worked
Assuming your regular operating drive is "C", it's a file normally found in the C:\program files\common files\motorola\rdk\xxxxxx where 'xxxxxx' can be different folders. These files are shared between different model CPS. The CPS is likely looking for this file in the 'default' location above & not finding it. You can try copying the file from a computer where the CPS is installed normally, and putting it into the path described above & see what happens. If it works, you will probably then get an error that a different file cannot be found, as there are many which reside in that folder...you may need to copy them all.

just curious, are you installing it there so you can use that program on other computers, not just the one you installed it on? if so that won't work, there is no info on other computers in the registry about the program

yes that is exactialy what i am trying to do. As I mentioned in the first post the drive has a program called argo for just that reason. It would be nice if it did. The reason that i want to do this is so i dont have to install the programs on all computers just the drive.
you can't do that and use it on a different computer, you can do it on the computer it was installed on but not others, it absolutely has to install some of the .dll files on c: and for the program to start it has to find the info in the registry to start. the registry tells this program how it's supposed to work and with what radios, it can not be left out. so with what you want to do, it can't find the .dll files or anything in the registry. get a laptop and just use that and you can carry it wherever you want just as easy and you will know the com ports work how you need them to. plus you said you are using some kind or program to emulate something, don't do that, most motorola programs don't like any kind of emulation anywhere, not even usb to serial to emulate a serial port. the xts is a pretty expensive radio to be experimenting around with and it's cps is one of the most intricate ones motorola ever put out.
