M1225 Difted Off Freq ???

Post by Satelite »

Hello:
I have a qestion on a M1225 UHF 4ch 25 watt mobile model number
M34DGC90E2AA.
I think its probably the oscilator crystal has drifted and needs replaced but was wondering if anything else in the radio could cause this problem like found in the GM300 and Maxtrac radios with the interconect pins getting dirty ect.
What this radio does is when programmed for tx 469.200 it shows by service monitor to be low on freq by .01125
There is not enough warp adjustment per the radio program to bring it on freq.( Warp Maxed Out Per The Program)
So to trick the radio i dropped the warp adjustment from maxed out to 85 then entered tx freq 469.21125 and programmed it in.
With this tx freq entered as 469.21125 the service monitor now shows the tx freq to be on the 469.200 originaly sought.
This is also the case with the rx freq as well.
This leads me to believe possibly the 16.8 mhz oscilator crystal has drifted due to aging and by tricking the radio i could now with the available warp drive it on freq.
But is there another known problem that could cause this same trouble ?
Service monitor is on calibration.
M1225 was built 03/10/2
I do not have a service/repair manual for the M1225 containing the UHF 4ch M1225.
Thank you

Pretty much guaranteed it's the crystal.

Hello :
Ok assuming it is the 16.8 mhz oscilator crystal.
Will the 16.8 mhz oscilator crystal from a GP300 portable work in the place of the 16.8 mhz crystal in the M1225 ?
Motorola does not sell the M1225 16.8 mhz oscilator crystal for outside the factory repair according to my MOL account.
Motorola M1225 16.8 mhz crystal part number = 4880114R02
I do see the 16.8 mhz crystal on the GP300 portable .
I do have the 16.8 mhz crystal for the GP300 on hand that i could swap out with the M1225 crystal if it would match.
According to the GP300 manual it should as i see it.
Otherwise it would apear ill need to go to ICM and order a crystal from them to replace the 16.8 crystal without Ms help.
Thank you.
