MT1000 Old Style Charger
I've recentky bought some Ni-Mh batteries. Is it ok to charge them in this (brick of a charger) or is it only made for Ni Cad? The bottom of the charger seems to get very warm when charging..Thanks, Kevin
Re: MT1000 Old Style Charger
If your "brick of a charger" is the original NTN4635A (standard charge) or NTN4633A (rapid charge), then the answer is no. These were originally designed for nicads only.

Re: MT1000 Old Style Charger
I have used NTN4633C and NTN4633B chargers upgraded with the "C" modification successfully for about 5 years with various aftermarket NIMH batteries with no problems.
Re: MT1000 Old Style Charger

Re: MT1000 Old Style Charger
No IMPRES for that old beast... earliest you'll find them for is the Jedi series...
Re: MT1000 Old Style Charger
Yea I figured that. What is the c modification or what type of charger should i get for these new batteries?
Re: MT1000 Old Style Charger
Here is a link to how to upgrade a "B' to a "C". It is intended to prevent overheating of NiCads but I have had good results with NIMH:

There is a more elaborate modification specifically for NIMH that I have not tried:

Re: MT1000 Old Style Charger
Both mods work, I helped write them and April found the mod to prevent the charger from going back on RAPID charge due to power cycling (1993).
The only difference is the thermistor value(s) in aftermarket batteries.
