Saber III RX troubles

Post by sigo »

I have a Saber III that has recently been giving me some problems. It has a constant faint sound coming from the speaker. It's not in a state of constant RX or TX, it will TX just fine but will not RX at all on any of the GMRS freqs I have programmed in. The problem came up after a long hike in very cold weather, I had the radio in a chest harness under my jacket and I'm afraid some condensation got inside. I've heard Sabers are very susceptible to the smallest amount of moisture, but have never experienced any problems before. Any ideas?

they are made for the long hikes in any weather, try putting a spk. mic on and see what happens! Still there, I would put it on a service monitor, unless you got the speaker wet from moisture .. 3rd. I would open it up. but lets see if you get another reply on this...

What makes you think there is moisture inside? Is there condensation on the display window?
If moisture does get inside it will probably stay there unless you open it. The saber radios have very
good oring seals. But if moisture did happen to get inside it will start corosion. Just pull it open and
let it dry out.
