Any Fire/EMS agency using ML900/910s?

Post by bv156 »

We've been using ML900s (with rubberized keyboards) in our police cruisers for several years. This month, we added them to our city's ambulances so that they could begin electronic report writing. We're trying to find out if any agency has determined a safe way to disinfect these computers in an EMS environment.

The product manual is definitely geared towards consumer use and does not address this issue. It says not to use paper towels, alcohol, or detergents on the touch screen. It also says the exterior should be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with water.

Eventually one of the computers is going to get covered in blood and I don't want the cleaning process to ruin the screen/keyboard. They're just a little expensive.

Our MSS hasn't been able to get any answers from Motorola, and doesn't know of any EMS agencies using the computers to ask what they've learned.

Surely someone has had to figure this out already...
