What radios do you own?: Enough for a Motorola Museum

I got this HT220 in a bright red case with only one button on top, in a guard to prevent accidental actuation marked EMERGENCY.

Inside the radio is a 1200Hz PL reed.

Obviously it's a distress beacon of some type. Anyone know where it would have been used?
