VHF SpectraTac preamp installation

Post by k2hz »

I have a question on where the TLD8422B preamp is mounted when installed in a C03RTB VHF Spectra Tac receiver. This preamp is listed a a standard option (C12A) and is discussed in the manual but with no information as to where it is installed in the receiver housing.

Unlike the regular Micor station receiver chassis that has an obvious and convenient location for the preamp, I don't even see a space where the preamp could fit in the Spectra Tac housing. I can kluge some type of external mounting and pick up power from the backplane terminals but I am curious if anyone knows what the normal factory mounting location is.

It actually DOES mount on the back, outside of the receiver.

I'll email a pic if you'd like.
