R*I*C*K help
Simple I have a R*I*C*K and would like to put it to work so my question is what radio will work the best for light duty in unidirectional way
Re: R*I*C*K help
Depends on if your unit came with cables.
I used a pair of M120's with a rick with good results. You just have to remember, cooling is an issue, I'd put it with some sort of fan or other cooling measures on the TX radio. I have a big old computer fan hooked up to my repeater, and it works fine.
Most RICK repeaters i've seen use Radius / Maxtrac Series, or if you have the cables, CDM's
And as you stated, these are only good for low power light duty use, not 100% duty cycle at all. Mine is TOT's for 80 seconds on TX at 25 watts.

Do you put your RICK in a cabinet of some kind? How to you keep it from overheating if you are not around to know it is?

Re: R*I*C*K help
yes i have all the cables and i used two cdm1250's before connecting the 16pin accessory plug tx radio to the j3-tx plug on the rick and the 16pin accessory plug of the rx radio to the j5-rx plug on the rick but the cdm's are reel expensive radios so i was looking to get a older less expensive radio, also the programming on the cdm is more complicated so had to order a instruction manual for the rick to cdm from moto and the cdm’s did not perform well so I decided to get a set of older less expensive and less complicated radios the only question is what is the best radios for this project.
Re: R*I*C*K help
Well I have used everything from a CDM1550LS+ down to the M120. Lets see...SM50, M1225, GM300, Maxtrac, Radius. All are fine units with the Rick. Just need to program appropriately is all. I currently have one repeater running 1225 mobiles, and another with Maxtracs. In addition I made a cable and have an ICOM as a TX radio on one. the RICK is a versitle basic repeater module and should work with any radio you hook up.
