Maxtrac S-Meter?

Post by rgallahan »

Has anyone figured out where to tap the receiver IC for a signal suitable for driving a S-Meter? perhaps somewhere I can find a signal from the limiter? Since this seems to be a custom IC, I'm not quite sure where that would be, but expect it's in the vicinity of the sq. adjustment.

Have heard it's been done on GM300s, but never seen any documentation for this modification. Am thinking about shoehorning a LED bargraph meter into the front panel.

mdl = D44MJA7JA5 on 70cm ham band.

The IF IC is in limiting on most receive siganals so there does not seem to be a meter point there.
There is a service test point that you could measure the IF signal there. You will need a rectifier of some sort to
change that into a DC level.
