There is a ton of data about this subject over on http://www.batlabs. com. To save time I
copied the following from the Spectra section:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* UHF Range-1 403-433 MHz
* Range-2 438-470 MHz
* Range-3 450-482 MHz
* Range-4 482-512 MHz

You cannot tell the range of the radio just by looking at the model number, you will have to read the radio with RSS in order to figure out what frequency range it covers.

Note that if you're in the U.S., under Sub-part L, the channels are as follows

TV 14: Output: 470-473; Input: 473-476.
TV 15: Output: 476-479; Input: 479-482.
TV 16: Output: 482-485; Input: 485-488.
TV 17: Output: 488-491; Input: 491-494.
TV 18: Output: 494-497; Input: 497-500.
TV 19: Output: 500-503; Input: 503-506.
TV 20: Output: 506-509; Input: 509-512.

See 47 C.F.R., sec. 90.303.

A pair using a 474 output and a 479 input would not be licensable.

Tom you missed the elusive RANGE 3.5 453 - 488

The only REAL way to tell is to look at the numbers on the VCO and the RF frontend/mixer boards.

Remember the range that is displayed by the RSS is just a few bytes in the Spectra that can and may have been hacked.....

soo all these cheap a4/a5/a7 spectras i see on ebay going cheap claiming 450 to 470 mhz band and are running chanels in 45X and 46X range are realy 450-482 or 453-488 mhz bands and will TX fine on 479 mhz (by the way im in Australia and the 450 to 520 mhz band is commercial for -9.5 and -/+ 5.2 mhz split repeaters and simplex use)

Will,

I copied the data from the Spectra section on Batlbabs, but
as most of us are aware there is a lot of data there that could
stand updating, this apparently being another one.

Another example is the real scarcity of information on CPS; most
programming info is still based on or emphasizes DOS RSS.
