Motorola R2001C Service Monitor

Post by the_emperor_flatus »

Greetings all!

I'd like to hear opinions, advice, caveats and kudos from all who have had experience
using a R2001C. What did you like/love/hate/find convenient or inconvenient about
this unit? I'm thinking about buying one from a shop that's closing out. How would this
work for someone who is a ham? Thanks and 73!!

What do I dislike most about the 2001c? Heavy . . . . .
Use one here to maintain 4 ham repeaters. Not the best unit to use for tuning duplexers. Will work but other units are better. For general receiver and transmitter work great unit!

I used to work for Motorola's test equipment depot. The R2000C is a very versatile unit for general communications. If you can find a "D" model, it's a much better unit, a little lighter, more features and the duplex output is a lot more stable. Even better is the R2600 series or an IFR unit with the tracking generator. Keep in mind, the R2000 series (even the "D" models) are 1970's technology (parts are getting hard to find).
